Pizza has always been in Papa Vin’s blood. His father immigrated from Sicily and opened the family’s first pizzeria in New York in the late 1960s. The tradition continued in New Jersey, where all four of Papa Vin’s brothers own pizzerias to this day.
When Papa Vin started Weirdough’s during COVID, he kept it simple. His goal wasn’t to reinvent pizza, it was to bring an authentic East Coast pie to Los Angeles. It was his classic plain cheese, pepperoni, and sausage pizzas that first put Weirdough’s on the map and continue to be the foundation of everything we do.
Before moving to California, Papa Vin spent years as both a chef and restaurant owner on the East Coast. That culinary background is what makes Weirdough’s unique. While our roots will always be in a great plain pie, pizza also became his canvas. The rotating gourmet slices are simply an extension of his love for cooking, bringing restaurant quality specialties and flavors to handcrafted East Coast pizza.
When he moved to Los Angeles, retirement was the plan. It didn’t last long. He quickly realized he wasn’t ready to hang up the pizza peel. Making pizza, meeting customers, and sharing meals with the community is simply who he is.
Today, working alongside his wife and children is the greatest part of the journey. Weirdough’s isn’t just a pizzeria, it’s the continuation of a family tradition built on hard work, creativity, and a genuine love for feeding people.
Los Angeles is home now, and Papa Vin looks forward to serving authentic East Coast pizza for as long as he’ll let us keep him in front of the oven.
Since opening Weirdough’s in 2020, every single pizza has been made by his hands alone. It’s his way of making sure every pie that leaves the oven lives up to the standards he spent a lifetime perfecting. For Papa Vin, consistency isn’t just important, it’s everything.
None of this would be possible without our community. From the days of making pizzas in our condo to where we are today, your support, your kind words, and every recommendation to a friend have meant everything to us. We will always be grateful to every person who has walked through our doors and become part of the Weirdough’s family. Thank you for being part of our story. ❤️
From our family to yours, we love you Weirdoughs! Mangia!
Meet Papa Vin
